Do I need CAD-generated drawings for you to look at my project?

A hand-drawn sketch can be useful for preliminary discussions of a project or part, but Ram-Z Fab is convinced that proper CAD-generated models and drawings pay for themselves by reducing errors and assuring accurate fit and function. An additional benefit is that they allow for more accurate quoting. If a customer lacks the resources to generate their own CAD drawings, please don’t let that discourage you - Ram-Z Fab has highly experienced and efficient CAD designers available to create the required models and drawings. All that being said, sometimes parts are so simple that they only require a hand-drawn sketch – one way or another, Ram-Z Fab will get your job done right, at a very competitive price.

Can you machine parts from a solid model only?

Yes, Ram-Z Fab can. There are, however, a couple of challenges with this approach:

1) The parts would need to be done via programming and CNC, whereas if a detailed print existed, one could manufacture the parts on a conventional mill or lathe, which is potentially less expensive than the CNC approach.

2) Inspection processes require a detailed print for verification. In spite of these challenges, Ram-Z Fab has successfully completed many solid model-based projects – give them a call and they'll work with you to make your project successful as well.
